Efficient Warehouse Management as a guarantee for a successful future – Welser Profile GmbH runner up at the “Factory 2017” competition!

In order to optimally combine tradition and modernity as a family-owned company in 11. (!) generation and to remain competitive in the long term, Welser Profile GmbH relies on the sophisticated logistic management solutions of SEP Logistik AG for its Warehouse Management.
The Warehouse Management was also a decisive success factor, as the Welser Profile GmbH secured the second place among 16 top companies from all over Austria at the “Factory 2017” competition – conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute and WEKA Industrie Medien.

Applicants had to submit themselves to a detailed questionnaire on energy efficiency, digitization and operational excellence. Afterwards, the production halls including the warehouse management system was examined closely by an expert jury.
In the final round with company presentation in front of the five-member expert jury and specialist audience, the management of Welser Profile GmbH set the company’s pioneering role in the use of the innovative warehouse management system (forklift control system) and the energy measurement data system.
The Warehouse Management of Welser Profile GmbH includes a Forklift Guiding System (FGS) for the automated control of forklifts via a Real Time Location System (RTLS). The 3D representation of the warehouse programmed by SEP Logistik AG enables the visualization of material flow and forklift movements and takes over the control of the driverless forklift trucks (AGVs) / Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV). The Forklift Guidance System guarantees the efficient organization of all material flows with control and overview functions in real time.
The combination of a successful company presentation and on-site evaluation directly in the production halls secured second place for Welser Profile GmbH and placed well-known companies such as the BMW Group (Steyr factory) in third place.
